Our Assessment Teams are responsible for undertaking an assessment of a child and determining the level of intervention needed for the family to enable them to make and sustain positive change. This will involve developing Child Protection, Child In Need and Early Help plans for children. There may be occasions where we need to undertake some Court work and support a small number of children who cannot remain at home to come into Local Authority care.
About the Role
The Assessment Service in Mid and East Devon have an exciting 12 month opportunity for anyone with the relevant experience to step up and become a Childrens Social Work Team Manager. As a Manager, you will embed a high-performance, collaborative culture by supporting your team to continually develop their skills to achieve the best possible outcomes for our children, young people, and their families. Through reflective supervision meetings with your team, you'll champion their personal and professional growth. You will also provide oversight on all our children and young people, ensuring quality standards are maintained whilst championing restorative practice.
This role will allow for some remote working but will largely be office based with an expectation that you are in the office for your team duty week every other week.
About You
Advocating for the children and young people of Devon, you will model high standard social work practice in accordance with statutory obligations. You will champion restorative practices and foster a collaborative culture that supports opportunities for reflection and learning.
You will be passionate about relationship-based social work and take pride in your profession. You will be able to reflect and think creatively about how to support your team in building relationships that make a meaningful difference to the children and families of Devon.
Recruitment to this role is offered as a secondment opportunity to internal candidates currently working for Devon County Council or a 12 month fixed term contract to external applicants.
