We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapy Positive Practice Worker to join our multidisciplinary team in the Mental Health Service at Heatherwood Court Hospital. This role focuses on providing interventions related to activities of daily living such as personal care and hygiene, laundry and other domestic chores and food preparation to maximise functional performance in patients with mental health issues. There will be opportunities for delivery of direct and indirect therapeutic interventions. You will work predominantly in a support worker role. Alongside your supporting role, you will have a day each week devoted to Occupational Therapy clinical work. The successful candidate will support patients with interventions related to their functional performance such as ability to prepare balanced meals and maintain basic bedroom hygiene. Additionally, interventions related to personal care needs, domestic chores such as laundry and community skills around using public transport or attending voluntary placements will be required.
To succeed in this role, you must have an interest in and commitment to the practice of occupational therapy, which involves providing meaningful engagement in activities of daily living in relation to self-care, leisure and productivity. There will be multiple opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and experience. You will have opportunities to access specific, clinically relevant training to the discipline of occupational therapy. You will embody the occupational therapy ethos; being a guide and advisor for all staff, working towards structured care plans for personal care/wellbeing of patients, and promoting their overall quality of life.
