Based within the People & Organisational Development Directorate, the Talent & Recruitment team is the Centre of Excellence and operational hub for the attraction of talent to The Manchester Metropolitan University. We are a busy team, providing an excellent service to Faculties and Departments across the university, and handling high levels of recruitment activity throughout the academic year, whether that be hiring from external markets, supporting our colleagues to move roles internally, producing offer documentation or handling right to work checks.
Role:
As the Officer responsible for UKVI compliance, you will lead on a range of advisory and transactional activities in relation to the employment of international staff. As an experienced professional and an expert in your field, you will provide immigration advice, support and guidance to faculties and departments across the University, as well as to colleagues in HR, acting as the HR expert in this area. You will help new international staff navigate the visa process and support their onboarding journey, with a focus on excellent candidate and hiring manager experience.
You will also take responsibility for existing staff visa and right to work requirements and the disclosure and barring service (DBS) processes.
About you:
As our expert, you will have strong practical knowledge and understanding of current immigration regulations and guidance, as well as experience of providing advice and guidance on the visa application process and staff immigration matters, including training. You will enjoy problem solving and continuously improving the UKVI service and guidance offered to our existing and new colleagues, keeping up to date with Government policy changes.
You will also have strong communication and organisational skills, attention to detail along with a customer service focussed approach. Experience of working within higher education institutes (HEIs) would be beneficial but is not essential.
