NES Fircroft are partnering with a global engineering company who are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to work with them at their Christchurch facility. You would join their Engineering Department who are responsible for providing an engineering service for the company in either an individual capacity or part of a team, normally supervising others. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading in coordinating the technical content of projects and products ensuring that all project objectives are met. This will include supervising of an in-house team of multidisciplined engineers and the output of additional business offices or subcontract resources. Project responsibilities include on-time on-budget project execution, activity planning and progress monitoring, technical output quality and functional stability of designs, resource control, product standardisation, health and safety and compliance. Main tasks and responsibilities Produce technically compliant and cost-effective design documentation; drawings, specifications, schedules, calculations, manuals etc. for specific areas/ equipment and meet project requirements and company operating procedures / statutory obligations. Ensure that the design and documentation of equipment is produced to the required standards within budget and agreed timescales. Support and supervise other engineers assigned to the same area or equipment to ensure that they are producing technically compliant and cost-effective design documentation; drawings, specifications, schedules, calculations, manuals etc and meet project requirements and company operating procedures / statutory obligations. Ensure that the team members comply with the company operating procedures and statutory obligations. Participate in project design and safety reviews and risk assessments etc. Report To the department manager and project engineer / manager on all matters related to the project. Participate in the customer meetings and training both on site and in the office. Provide technical support to ensure that equipment is manufactured, tested, installed and commissioned in accordance with the design and operational requirements either from the office or at site. Develop maintain and cultivate relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure a successful execution of the project and the future business. Required skills and experience Substantial design experience and knowledge of the relevant technology areas (Process Machinery). Experience in machine design and drafting. Experience a function within large projects including installation startup and commissioning. Ability to be able to communicate on both technical and non-technical issues. Working knowledge of Health and safety legislation and requirements. Ability to multitask and set priorities for self and others. Experience of managing budgets. IT literate with all departments and business system tools especially AutoCAD and 3D engineering design software. Experience of project engineering and the project life cycle from sales through to installation commissioning from a specific discipline engineering review. Experience of team management during project execution both in office and site based. Must be able to solve problems quickly and positively. Take an active part in the decision making and the within the engineering team. Additional Information Candidate must have existing right to work in the UK and travel internationally without restrictions possibly in short notice. Candidate must also hold a UK driving licence.
