About the role:
Each Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) offers educational provision to pupils aged 5 – 16 who are permanently excluded or at risk of exclusion from their mainstream school as well as other pupils that the LA has a statutory responsibility for such as pregnant
schoolgirls. The PRU’s core offer is to provide short term placements for pupils up to the end of Key Stage 3 with the aim of successful re-integration back into a mainstream setting. At
Key Stage 4 the aim is to achieve accreditation to support pupils onto the next stage of their education, employment or training.

Effective implementation of strategies to support students with emotional, behavioural and social needs.
Experience of teaching curriculum subjects at Key Stage 4 to accreditation level e.g. GCSE
What you will do:
As literacy champion you will be responsible for co-ordinating and developing literacy across the curriculum.
To fulfill all the requirements and duties as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.
To teach a variety of subject areas within the PRU and the Outreach service. Where appropriate, participate in the development of schemes of work, materials and
syllabuses of the department. Develop positive working relationships with parents/carers, schools and supporting
agencies/services, within clear PRU protocols.
