This post is for experienced plain imaging radiographers to maintain and promote high standards in image quality and patient care, supporting and training more junior radiographers and learners throughout the 24-hour shift system.
Main duties of the job
* To contribute to the delivery of the Radiology service at an operational level as required.
* To produce high-quality images across the spectrum of all radiography examinations.
* To ensure the smooth operation of the radiography service.
* To be responsible for the standards of care provided within the department.
* In collaboration with the relevant lead radiographers or the Radiology Section Head, ensure resources are monitored and tailored to meet the needs of the service within the constraints of the financial budget.
* To provide cover for other colleagues' absences to meet service needs.
* To promote education and training within the working environment.
* Keep up to date competency records, statutory and mandatory training, and HCPC registration.
* To work as part of the radiographic team, maintaining a high standard of expertise in radiographic technique, exhibiting good organisational skills and flexibility to cover extended day working.

Qualifications and Training
* BSc (Hons) Radiography/DCR (R) or equivalent
* Current HCPC Registration
Knowledge and Experience
* Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of plain imaging and best practice within the specialty area.
* Experience in departmental operational management.
* Experience in teaching and supervising clinical learners.
* Understanding of College of Radiographers Code of Practice and requirements for practice and behaviour and its application to the management of staff and self.
* Understanding of HCPC Professional standards and requirements for practice and behaviour and its application to the management of staff and self.
* Understanding the theory and application of clinical governance.
Skills and abilities
* Effective communication skills - including in situations of conflict or distress.
* Strong organisational skills - prioritising complex situations.
* Able to accept responsibility for area of work, working under own initiative within the boundaries of role.
* Flexibility, adaptability to meet needs of a changing service.
