Job summary
Newcastle Chronic Disease Monitoring Service is developing and we would like to recruit a Community Phlebotomist to work across the city.
The role involves domiciliary visits and working in Community base clinics.
The successful candidate will be expected to assist in providing a comprehensive Phlebotomy Service to the population of Newcastle upon Tyne across a variety of Primary care settings.
The post holder will also be expected to act as a resource within the CDMS team ensuring the delivery of a safe, high quality and effective Service. They will undertake a broad range of activities, including providing advice to patients and other healthcare staff.
This will be a superb opportunity for the successful applicant to contribute to the continuous development of the service.

Main duties of the job
To ensure that your responsibilities for the prevention and control of infection are fulfilled by following all Trust guidelines and protocols.
To arrange delivery to the appropriate laboratories according to current Pathology policy.
To undertake first line tests on blood samples in accordance with written procedures.
To respect patient Confidentiality and Dignity.
At all times to work in accordance with the procedures and policies of the Trust, in particular Clinical Skills training package (Practice development) and Health and Safety.
To relate to the Senior Phlebotomist on a regular basis to keep up to date and receive regular training.

Job responsibilities
4. To provide a comprehensive phlebotomy service to the population of Newcastle upon Tyne across a variety of primary care settings.
5. To perform venepuncture blood collection as requested and to understand the principles and clinical guidelines underpinning chronic disease monitoring.
6. To perform POC testing for warfarin monitoring.
7. To offer a high standard of care for housebound patients.
