Manufacturing Engineer
Purpose of Job:
1. Project manage complex products from quotation to launch.
2. Management of multiple suppliers of tooling and capital ensuring timing and cost targets are met.
3. Launch of new products and processes into the business ensuring time and cost targets are met.
4. Development of comprehensive timing plans in line with customer milestones.
5. Development of pre-production processes.
6. Generation of PFMEAs, control plans and standard operating instructions to support both pre-production and production processes.
7. Design, develop, specify and source key manufacturing equipment.
8. Sign off new equipment including management of run at rates and capability studies.
9. Ensure products, process and materials are safe and complete health and safety documents as required.
10. Support product design in the development of the components ensuring best in class design for manufacture.
11. Production of workbooks to generate accurate cost estimates to support commercial.
12. Manage changes through the CR system and ensure timely submission.
13. Support quality in the close out of customer concerns and aid root cause identification.
14. Management of equipment installation and contractors.
15. Support operations in the day to day running of the business.
16. Generation of cost saving initiatives to support the plants CI roadmap.
17. Experience of aftermarket component supply.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
1. Degree qualified in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
2. Experience of working with an OEM.
3. Knowledge of headliner manufacturing and assembly.
4. Exposure to manufacturing lines highly reliant on IT systems.
5. Significant experience in a relevant role within a 1st tier automotive supplier, preferably within a just in time environment.
6. Experience of Six Sigma / Lean manufacturing processes.
7. Computer literate with MS Project.
8. Auto CAD advantageous.
