We’re supporting our client, a leading industrial manufacturing company based in Birmingham, who are looking for a Service & Installation Manager to join their growing team. The successful Service & Installation Manager will have experience of working within an Installation Manager role or equivalent.
Position Overview: As a Service & Installation Manager, you'll take full accountability for the successful installation of all jobs, coordinate with sales, design, planning and production to ensure safety, quality, cost and delivery requirements are met through planning, organising and control of the installation process to ensure all jobs are installed efficiently, on time, within budget and in accordance with ISO 9001 Quality Standards procedures.
You’ll also be responsible for developing an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team of employed and subcontractor staff by building working relationships, implementing training programmes & regular appraisals and ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.
Responsibilities for Service & Installation Manager:
* Oversee the effective allocation of resources to ensure all installations are completed on time, to include people, equipment, equipment hire, and vehicles, utilising the relevant in-house software to its full potential.
* Implement, communicate, control and monitor the installation schedule, review and adjust the schedule where needed.
* Work closely with Sales, Design, Planning, and Production to develop robust installation schedules.
* Continuously reviewing requirements of the order book to ensure there is always sufficient capacity in the installation team to meet Customer needs, whilst never compromising on the Working Time Regulations.
* Support the installation teams with constructive solutions and ideas when they face challenges during installations.
* Own post installation activities such as repairs and call outs.
* Support with other post installation activities such as service contracts.
* Carry out planned and unplanned installation site visits to provide motivation, support, and coaching for the team and to ensure all jobs are being completed on time, within Health & Safety guidelines, and to the highest quality standards.
* Writing up risk assessments and method statements.
* Responsible for carrying out continuous improvement activities to increase quality and reduce costs.
* Prepare and maintain accurate, meaningful installation reports, with narrative, to include installation costs, staff / subcontractor costs, and monthly management meetings.
* Ensure that all installation equipment and vehicles are kept clean & tidy, and servicing / MOT’s are up to date.
* Working within and understanding the consequences of delivering outside of agreed guidelines in terms of penalty fees, reputation, and other business impacts.
* Keep systems and procedures within the Installation arena accurate and up to date.
* Support with the recruitment, induction, and training of new starters to your team.
* Effective management and leadership of staff in your area delivering all required management disciplines, health and safety, motivation, support, development, and areas as directed by the Business Support Manager.
* Following the Installation processes in place and making recommendations for improvements.
About You:
* Relevant degree or management qualification or equivalent experience.
* Prepared to fund & gain SMSTS certification.
* As the role requires cost calculations and writing reports, a GCSE or equivalent in English & Mathematics of Grade C or above is required.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in an Installation Manager role or equivalent.
* Minimum 2 years’ experience managing people.
* Proven track record of managing and delivering within a highly pressured, time critical environment.
* Proven track record working within varied and sizeable building contractors.
* Experience of working within agreed targets, KPI’s, and deadlines.
* Good Microsoft Office skills and experience working with in-house systems.
