Youth Worker (Casual)

Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Youth Work Service are offering an opportunity for adults join an innovative and award-winning Youth Work team as part of our Casual Staff giving you the flexibility to work as and when you are available.
You should be motivated and interested in working with young people aged 12 - 25 in an informal way. We are recruiting casual youth workers to support the delivery of youth work groups, programmes and events as and when required throughout the year including holiday periods.
We are looking to recruit individuals with a wide range of skills and experience to the team. This includes individuals with an interest in working with young people across community settings, and those with a particular focus on working with young people in:
1. Outdoor education settings including delivering the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Expeditions
2. Sports
3. Cookery
4. Gaming
5. STEM
6. Music
This challenging and stimulating post is part of a wider team of workers developing and supporting creative youth work activities and young people’s participation across Dumfries and Galloway.
All training required will be provided.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
You will be required to work evening and weekends, for which payment is included in the salary offered.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. From 28 February, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
