Role Overview:
Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and skilled Art Teacher for a full-time maternity cover position at a highly regarded secondary school in Reddish, Stockport. This role, commencing in January, offers a valuable opportunity to inspire students and contribute to a vibrant school community known for its dedication to both academic excellence and creative growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Curriculum Delivery: Teach Art across Key Stages 3 and 4, covering a variety of artistic mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art. Implement lessons that encourage creative exploration while meeting national curriculum standards.
* Lesson Planning: Develop diverse and engaging lesson plans that inspire creativity and critical thinking. Tailor lessons to accommodate different learning styles, with a strong focus on technique, expression, and experimentation.
* Practical Skills Development: Guide students in mastering fundamental art skills, exploring new media, and understanding the principles of design. Support students in developing both technical skills and personal artistic expression.
* Assessment and Feedback: Conduct assessments through projects, portfolios, and written evaluations. Provide constructive feedback that encourages student growth and artistic confidence.
* Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment conducive to focused and creative work.
* Extra-Curricular Activities: Encourage students to engage in extra-curricular art projects or clubs, participate in exhibitions, or contribute to school-wide artistic events.
* Exam Preparation: Support Key Stage 4 students in preparing for their Art and Design GCSEs, guiding them through the coursework and portfolio requirements with emphasis on project development and presentation.
* Collaboration: Work closely with other teachers in the Art department and the wider school community, participating in team planning and sharing resources to enhance the curriculum.
* Parent Communication: Regularly update parents on student progress and offer support on ways to nurture their child’s artistic development at home.
Ideal Candidate:
* Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a relevant degree in Art, Art Education, or a related discipline.
* Experience: Experience teaching art at the secondary level, with a strong grasp of the Key Stage 3 and 4 Art curriculum and assessment criteria.
* Skills: Proficiency in various artistic mediums, strong classroom management abilities, and the capability to inspire creativity in students of diverse backgrounds.
* Passion for Art Education: A commitment to fostering artistic growth and a love for the visual arts, along with the patience to support students’ individual creative journeys.
