About The Role Job Title: Social Media ManagerJob Location: UK FlexibleSalary £, per annum Hours: per weekContract Type: Fixed term contract ( months) Do you want to lead one of the most awarded, impactful social media teams in the not-for-profit sector? Can you help the British Red Cross tell the story about who we are, what we do and what we believe? You will work alongside teams in our Communications and External Affairs Team to build a movement of supporters and raise money to support people in crisis.Your goal is to help people act, behave, or make decisions in a way that results in a positive change for people in crisis. A day in the life of a Social Media Manager will involve:
1. Develop and manage our corporate social media accounts, building engagement and encouraging people to join the British Red Cross movement through topical, creative content and messaging
2. Respond with speed, confidence and political sensitivity to emerging events, crisis and relevant items on the news agenda, to positively position the work of the British Red Cross
3. Manage integrated social media campaigns alongside day-to-day activities, supporting wider organisational objectives
4. Regularly report on social media activity, using this data to improve our output and to mark and evaluate our ability to reach target audiences and drive actions
5. Oversee updates of and dissemination of social media guidelines for the entire organisation, including advice and training for volunteers and staff
6. Manage reputational risks on social media channels and advise on the social media aspects of risks to the Director of Media & Corporate Communications.
Do you have the following skills and experience to be a successful Social Media Manager?
7. Strong conception of social media platforms and how brands can engage audiences through social content
8. Substantial experience of and proven ability to manage and develop an organisation's social media channels
9. Confidence with owned channel social media analytics and insight tools like Brandwatch
10. Strong influencing skills including persuasive speaking and presentation skills and writing skills
11. Experience of how to positively portray people with lived experience and provide them with an empowered role in the storytelling process
12. Adapts to changing and / or new, sudden onset demands revising plans, content, and approaches as needed
13. Team or major project management experience.
