Here at Serco we are looking for a qualified Electrician to provide specialist electrical expertise and guidance to the operation working in our Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract. AASC offers a range of improvements, with particular focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system.
The primary function of this role is to attend to works related to the role and support non-trade Maintenance Operatives to fix faults. The role requires close working relationships with the housing teams to ensure outstanding service to the users and to complete all relevant electrical works and certification. You will be working between the following areas, Blackburn, Preston and Bolton.
You will report faults and defects to items of electrical plant and equipment and on a range of electrical systems such as power, lighting, fire alarms/panels and emergency lighting and you will undertake the certification and installation / repairs to emergency systems. You will carry out PAT testing, inspect, test and investigate the performance of the plant and equipment installed in the site and produce related reports and recommendations as may be required
You will assist the other members of the maintenance team with their activities as may be required and be a team member of the Facilities “Out of hours” call out roster and you must also have a willingness and ability to travel within the region and occasionally within the UK.
What you need to do the job
A full Driving Licence is required, and you must have C & G th Edition. You must also be qualified to C & G Electrical Installation Level 3 (5), (0) or equivalent and have experience in Domestic Dwellings.
City & Guilds 1-, Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations
Lastly, due to the nature of the environment a CRB Clearance and Security Clearance at CTC level (Counter Terrorism Check) is required (Serco Civil Government is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 4 and all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office).

In order to provide a fully compliant service, there will be a requirement to be on-call outside of normal working hours, as per an agreed roster and in accordance with local Serco processes.
