Job Summary:
The Groundworks Foreman will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of groundworks on construction sites, including excavation, foundation work, drainage, and concrete placement. This role involves supervising groundworks teams, ensuring health and safety compliance, and maintaining quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of groundworks and a strong background in construction site leadership.
Key Responsibilities:

Site Supervision and Management:
* Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of groundworks crews, ensuring work is completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
* Oversee site preparation, excavation, trenching, grading, and drainage installation, as well as concrete pouring and foundation work.
* Monitor progress, make necessary adjustments, and provide regular updates to the Site Manager or Project Manager.

Health and Safety Compliance:
* Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
* Conduct daily safety briefings, site inductions, and toolbox talks to promote a strong safety culture.
* Identify and mitigate potential hazards, ensuring that all personnel adhere to PPE requirements and safety guidelines.

Quality Control and Assurance:
* Inspect work to ensure it meets project specifications, design drawings, and quality standards.
* Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and inspectors to ensure all groundworks are aligned with site plans and design requirements.
* Address any issues promptly and work to improve procedures and quality standards as needed.

Team Leadership and Training:
* Lead and mentor groundworks crews, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
* Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Reporting and Documentation:
* Maintain accurate records of site activities, including progress reports, time sheets, and material usage.
* Report project updates, potential delays, and any site issues to the Site Manager or Project Manager.
* Document safety incidents, equipment usage, and work completion for review.
Qualifications:
* Education: Relevant certification or qualification in construction, civil engineering, or related field is preferred.
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of groundworks operations, techniques, and equipment.
* Certifications: CSCS card Gold Card, SMSTS or SSSTS certification, and first aid training are preferred.
