What you'll need to succeed
Ability to work independently performing tasks in the end-to-end process of packaging applications from initial request to final deployment by working with customers, vendors and IT departments. Experience performing technical analysis, requirements gathering, package creation, quality assurance, user acceptance testing and deployment. Creation of documentation relating to such tasks.
Understand Microsoft Windows operating systems at a technical level, installation methods, file systems, registry usage, services, user profiles, hardware drivers.
Have in-depth knowledge of Microsoft’s Windows Installer technology for Windows 10 workstations and understanding of all aspects of the MSI application format, tables, features,ponents, properties, etc. with particular emphasis on the creation of Transform files.
Essential knowledge of using AdminStudio and InstallShield to repackage an application vendor’s proprietary installation methods to a standard MSI format and be familiar with the use of Advertised Shortcuts, Upgrade Codes and Custom Actions.
Ability to diagnose and problem-solve installation/uninstallation issues and software conflicts with both vendor-supplied and locally created application installers, whether in MSI or proprietary formats.
Scripting skills in a variety of languages, including Windows PowerShell, Batch script and Visual Basic.
Experience using Microsoft SCCM to create and deploy applications in a large-scale enterprise environment. Understand the concepts of application dependencies and supersedence. Ability to monitor and remediate deployments.
Experience virtualising applications into Microsoft App-V format.
Must have experience with Apps Anywhere
