Haggerty Jaques is delighted to be assisting this major global listed business with the recruitment of a Legal Counsel to work alongside the Head of Legal.
The Business
This US-headquartered business is the global leader for distribution of infrastructure products and services.
The business is also doing an increasing amount in the energy sector - supplying products for carbon capture, wind energy, biofuel production, hydrogen projects, and geothermal energy.
With multi-billion-pound international sales, an unmatched geographic presence around the world, and a long history, this is an incredibly interesting business to be a part of.
The Opportunity
Reporting into the Head of Legal, who is based in West Yorkshire, the successfully appointed Legal Counsel will have an international remit, with the opportunity to travel all over the world if desired.
This fantastic in-house role will see you advising and supporting the business and its stakeholders on a very broad range of legal matters – commercial contracts – as well as general BAU matters.
This is a true in-house role which means you will need to be able to pick up whatever comes in; this may include drafting and advising on bank guarantees, advising on regulatory matters including ESG, IP/IT, real estate including leases, licenses and rent reviews, HR/employment, and company secretarial matters. Whilst you may not have prior experience of each and every one of these areas, you would need to be willing to develop your expertise.
You will have direct stakeholder contact, including regular interaction with senior individuals right across the business, including the Senior Vice President.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can demonstrate that they have had experience of a good range of commercial matters and that they can employ a commercially-focused and pragmatic approach.
The team anticipates that qualified lawyers from approximately 2 - 6 PQE would be around the right level, although there is flexibility. The role is also open to lawyers who have not qualified as a solicitor but have significant commercial contracts experience, ideally gained in-house.
Exposure to such a wide range of legal matters – some more complex than others - would particularly suit an individual who enjoys variety, and can be proactive and level-headed. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will be able to handle some matters independently.
This is a genuinely fantastic opportunity to work for a major international business, alongside an experienced Head of Legal, in a role that enables you to develop your skillset in-house.
Any PQE levels referred to in our adverts are shown purely as a guide and should not preclude applications from those who believe they have relevant experience.
