Joseph Walker founded Walker’s Shortbread when he opened his bakery in the Speyside village of Aberlour in 1898 where Walker’s remains to this day. Now it is Joseph’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren that continue the tradition of fine baking that he started. The founder’s personal guarantee is still marked on every pack to confirm that Walker’s products are made with only the finest ingredients. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Technical Manager to join our close-knit team. The successful candidate will work alongside our existing team member who currently oversees audits and certification, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency in our production processes. Main Duties: Working closely with the Technical Director and Factory Technical (Audit) Manager. Lead and manage the technical & QA teams. Work alongside QA manager and teams of lab technicians. Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers Refine and implement quality control procedures to maintain product standards. Submission and presentation of monthly reports in relation to key accountabilities and KPIs. Ensure technical compliance with all relevant internal, external, legal and customer requirements. Collaborate with NPD and cross functional teams as required to drive innovation and product development. Maintaining abreast of all relevant legislation and where applicable implementation of new legislation. Provide technical support and training to staff as needed. Work closely with the team member responsible for audits to ensure seamless operations and compliance. Travel between sites as required (Aberlour & Elgin). Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in food science, engineering, or a related field. Proven experience in a technical management role within the FMCG food sector, preferably in baked goods manufacturing with experience working with the main retailers. HACCP level 4. Strong knowledge of quality control, health and safety regulations, and production processes particularly of BRCGS Food Standard/similar GFSI Standard. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
