About the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit to Accountancy Support Officer posts within the corporate finance team. There could be flexibility within these posts to offer part-time hours if that was preferred. This is an excellent opportunity for you to join our Management Accounting Team that supports the Council's services. The Council is pursuing an exciting transformation agenda 'Sustainable Powys'. Sustainable Powys is reviewing what services we provide and how they are provided to meet current needs and best outcomes, whilst ensuring we have innovative solutions to provide the best services adapted for our future generations, so it is a great time to join the Council. The roles are based in County Hall, Llandrindod Wells; however, the Council predominantly operates through flexible working from a variety of locations including at home and at local offices which are near to where you live.
About you:
Candidates must have good communication skills, strong numerical reasoning ability, and be confident users of Microsoft Excel. A can-do attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to help and support where needed is a must. This is an entry-level job into the Corporate Finance department of the Council, making it a good place to either start or further your career. The Council provides professional study support and encourages career development.
What you will do:
1. Assist in the monthly planning routines to monitor service spend and analyze staffing data.
2. Review regular forecasts and assist in budget planning.
3. Help maintain systems and procedures for the effective financial operation of the Council to facilitate accurate budgetary management and forecasting.
4. Respond to financial queries to ensure robust, timely, and accurate financial information is provided.
5. Complete regular reconciliations of financial codes to ensure the Council's financial controls and systems are robust.
There will be a test on the day of the interview using Microsoft Excel.
