Overall Purpose of the Role:
The successful candidate will be based either in my client's Staffordshire office or Bolton office (if Bolton then the candidate will be required to travel to Staffordshire 2-3 days per week), and will be required to work closely with various departments including commercial, operations, and finance. The candidate will be working directly under the guidance of the Commercial Manager.
Commercially, the candidate will play a critical role within the business, effectively managing all commercial aspects of their region and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will take ownership of reporting on financial performance and assisting the management team to ensure commercial awareness is administered during project delivery. The candidate therefore would be expected to possess sound commercial skills, be customer-focused, and have a willingness to gain a good knowledge of the utility industry.
Working with colleagues within other parts of the business will be key to success, to gain an understanding of how the established offices operate to enable integration and use of best working practice.
What you will be doing:
1. Production of weekly and monthly cost/value reconciliations.
2. Play a key role bridging the gap between operations and clients to agree client variations and changes to scope. Providing variation justifications and agreeing these with clients in a timely manner.
3. Liaising with various departments including design and operations to report and manage commercial performance of schemes in your region.
4. Attend monthly operational meetings to discuss regional performance of schemes, taking accountability for performance to interrogate performance and ensure appropriate actions in place to resolve any underperformance.
5. Preparing client valuations and having the ability to manage client relationships/disputes.
6. Management of client debt, whilst establishing strong relationships with clients.
7. Preparing final accounts for both clients and sub-contractors.
What we ask from you:
1. Experience working in the Utility sector commercial/financial environment.
2. Management and production of cost value reconciliation.
3. Experience working directly with clients.
4. Building internal and external relationships.
5. Proficient in the use of Excel spreadsheets and document management packages.
6. Excellent communication skills.
7. Familiar with commercial contracts terms.
8. Previous experience dealing with client variations/changes of scope and getting these agreed with clients.
9. Experience leading meetings.
