We’ve sourced a number of senior level staff for the company and now they’ve tasked us with sourcing a skilled Managing Director to head up, what will undoubtedly become, one of their most lucrative global divisions - North America.
The company: Headquartered in South Devon, the company holds an enviable position in the marine services industry. It’s an entrepreneurially spirited, fast paced business with big plans for the future. Driven by a highly experienced, energetic and dynamic senior management team, the business has a stronghold in their innovative sector, with visions for sustainable and profitable growth. Initially focussed on a UK based customer market, the company now has significant presence in Europe and North America. The stateside division is already established with a very respectable turnover, profitable and developing a strong portfolio of high net worth clients. Approximately 1/4 of its current workforce is based in the US and this is likely to dramatically increase.
The opportunity: The position calls for a visionary, client focussed leader with a proven history of designing, implementing and developing business strategy with continued growth being the key objective. This will include increasing overall turnover and profitability, expanding brand awareness and developing new and existing long-term client relationships. Key focus of the opportunity to include:
- Serve as the face of the company, representing the business in public forums, conferences, and networking events. Effectively communicate the company's mission and achievements to a variety of stakeholders
- End to end ownership of the divisions financial health to include developing budgets and forecasts that ensure continued profitability
- Cultivate and develop longstanding client relationships in a highly competitive, yet lucrative marketplace
- Develop and execute high performing initiatives and business strategies, operations and market development activities to increase profitability and performance
- Mentor and develop a high performing, innovative and collaborative team, shaping a strategy for timely recruitment initiatives in line with expansion objectives
- Workflow and systems analysis to ensure robust continuous development
- Ensure compliance with relevant US laws, employment practice and reporting standards
The candidate: A polished and profit focussed Managing Director with proven experience in an executive role. The position may also appeal to a commercially focussed CFO or COO. The successful candidate will undoubtedly possess very strong commercial acumen with a demonstrable history of driving growth and profitability. The successful candidate will assume overall responsibility of a team of 25, operating across all divisions of the business so exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills will be essential, as will the ongoing mentoring and development of new and existing team members. English and Spanish is widely spoken in South Florida so duel language skills may be beneficial, but certainly not essential. Previous experience gained in the marine sector would be advantageous, but by no means essential.

The logistics: Our client appreciates that there are a number of logistics to consider when appointing for this role and is committed to assisting the successful candidate in all aspects of relocation. This will include visa support and funding, and general domestic settlement. The role will initially be based in South Devon (1-3 months), to ensure a thorough handover with the CEO and senior management team.
