Your new role
Reporting to the Technical Director, the post holder will manage all M&E activities for their assigned projects. This includes helping to appoint, manage, and monitor the progress of MEP consultants, designers, and subcontractors. They will ensure the design meets all contract deliverables, maximises commercial opportunities, and that all design information and technical submissions are released according to the project construction programme and procurement schedule.
1. Negotiate and manage consultants and designer appointments, and prepare/manage MEP design programmes and schedules.
2. Coordinate MEP services with construction teams, ensuring quality and timeliness, and manage M&E contractors.
3. Review MEP materials for durability and safety, and ensure design information is clear, complete, and compliant.
4. Organise and chair technical meetings with the design team and supply chain and attend client meetings to report on MEP design progress.
5. Review tender drawings, assist the estimating team, and manage MEP RFI, DAR, and sample approval processes.
6. Oversee BREEAM tracker compliance, provide technical and commercial support to the project surveyor, and compile project handover documentation.
7. Oversee validation, commissioning, and client training, and participate in pre-tender submissions and client interviews.
8. Maintain accurate project records, ensure compliance with building regulations and safety requirements, and maintain quality and environmental control procedures.
9. Mentor team members and continually develop knowledge of innovative construction techniques.
What you'll need to succeed
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role or MEP Contracts Management. You will have sound knowledge and demonstrable experience particularly in programming and will have strong commercial awareness relating to the construction process and M&E installation on high-end projects. A related third level mechanical or electrical qualification in building services is desirable, however a time-served mechanical/electrical trade background will also be considered. Experience in the use of MS Projects or similar products to create and maintain schedules would be highly desirable. Additionally, you must have eligibility to work within the UK, a driving licence, and flexibility to work away from home for periods of time.
