Purpose of the Job:
To support the successful delivery of projects and ongoing departmental business objectives as requested.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the successful delivery of system implementation projects through the provision of high-quality input into the planning, design and testing phases.
2. Use complex data sets to construct and develop financial models and reporting that is robust and auditable.
3. Support the successful delivery of departmental process improvement projects including those closely related to highly transactions areas.
4. Deliver Management Information as requested including the implementation of ongoing reporting processes and ad-hoc management requests.
5. Support the management accounting process as required including forecasting activities and monthly financial closes.
6. Support financial reporting processes as required including supporting the monthly financial closes and statutory accounting preparation processes.
7. Development of process documentation and policies to ensure business change is understood by key stakeholders.
8. Support ongoing external audits as required including group and statutory audits.
9. Adherence to internal processes and risk frameworks including INCOME and ad-hoc internal audit assignments.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Degree level or equivalent
2. A fully qualified Accountant from a recognised Accountancy Board
3. Proven post qualification accountancy experience in a dynamic professional environment.
4. Demonstrated ability to apply professional expertise in a commercial environment
5. Proven ability to support business process and system change.
Skills:
1. Highly numerate
2. Able to analyse problems and identify solutions using Microsoft Office tools
3. Able to analyse data using tools such as SQL and capability to handle large data sets, such as via a cloud-based data lake environment
4. Ability to control and correct high volume ledger systems
5. Reconciliation of complex accounting data sets
6. Able to report financial issues to a wide-ranging audience
7. Proven ability to produce work under tight deadlines
8. Demonstrated practical approach to problem solving
9. Able to manage conflicting priorities
10. Preferable knowledge of the Energy industry
