Job Description
We’re recruiting for a Finance Analyst to join the Tax Operations function in our vibrant Cardiff Office.
In this role you will assist with the analysis and reporting of financial data for Tax purposes and also provide support to users across L&G in relation to any Tax data related queries. You will also work collaboratively as part of a wider Group Cost Management function, providing analysis of expense data and finance support for the Group division as required.
What you'll be doing:
* Taking responsibility for the collation and coordination of data relating to funds tax, corporation tax, employment tax and VAT reporting that is submitted to HMRC and other Tax authorities.
* Working collaboratively with the Group Tax team to ensure Tax methodologies and rules are clearly understood and applied correctly to ensure accurate delivery of the Tax Operations processes. This will include providing guidance and support to the L&G Group, as required, for any Tax Operations related queries.
* Delivering analytical support, management information and transaction reports relating to Tax related activities, as well as ad hoc requests from the Group Tax team to aid decision making.
* Undertaking a range of other work with the wider cost management function to assist with month end and quarterly deliverables such as posting journals, reconciliations, and cost data analysis in line with business requirements, as and when required.
* Working within a strong control framework, assisting with updating processes, user guides, process control frameworks, RACI and process maps.
* Identifying opportunities for process improvement, adding, and maintaining them on the continuous improvement log and processing them through to execution.
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
* A part-qualified Accountant or a Finance Professional who is qualified by experience in a tax / analytical based finance role.
* Good Excel Skills - with the ability to gather data from several complex systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.
* Further technical IT proficiency is highly preferrable (e.g. Power BI, Tableau skills etc.)
* A general understanding of Tax principles.
* A general understanding of the financial service sector, and its key regulators is desirable but not essential.
* Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
* Ability to work effectively both in silo and as part of a wider team, cross team environment.
