The pathology departments at South Tees Hospitals NHSfT and North Tees and Hartlepool NHSfT are working collaboratively to develop a joint service with services being delivered on both hospital sites. As a result, this will require cross-site working, with the potential to work at any site as needed.
This role will assist in the delivery of day-to-day operational requirements of the Pathology Specimen Reception and Transport department as part of the section's management team.
Together, the Pathology departments across North Tees and South Tees Trusts form one of the largest laboratory services in the region. Our aim is to deliver high quality and timely Pathology results and services to a range of clinical areas both internal and external to the Trusts in order to support patient care.
Over 70% of all patient treatments will include Pathology testing, and it is essential to ensure that all clinical samples are delivered to Pathology and processed in a timely manner to support clinical areas and the treatment of patients.
This post is responsible for the Reception Team, Data Entry Team, and Driving Team, comprising over 40 staff members in total.
1. Supervise staff in the Specimen Reception and Transport areas of Pathology.
2. Ensure Trust HR policies are maintained and delivered (including absence, holiday, pay, disciplinary, etc.).
3. Ensure all training is delivered appropriately and that systems of ensuring competence are maintained.
4. Ensure systems are in place to monitor and maintain continuity of consumable stock items in the department.
The department operates a 24/7 service and successful candidates will be required to take part in a rota covering the hours of 8am and 8pm in order to support this.
