The Role:
The Senior Construction Planner will take responsibility for developing detailed and integrated project schedules that align with design, procurement, and construction stages, ensuring seamless coordination and delivery.
* They will oversee project progress with precision, analysing critical paths, identifying potential delays, and implementing corrective actions to maintain timelines and budgets.
* Acting as a subject matter expert, they will bring in-depth knowledge of construction processes, subcontractor coordination, and logistical sequencing to ensure efficiency and mitigate risks.
* They will also prepare robust tender programmes, logistic plans, and method statements, presenting and defending these during settlement meetings to secure project success.
* The role involves identifying, assessing, and managing project risks while implementing strategies to mitigate issues and maintain high performance standards.
* This position includes a key mentorship component, as the Senior Planner will share expertise by mentoring junior planners, fostering knowledge growth, and supporting the development of planning capabilities across the team.
* Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders will also be essential, providing clear and confident advice to ensure all elements of the project are aligned with the overall plan.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Extensive experience working on large-scale public or private construction projects (£30M+), ideally with Tier 1 main contractors or large Tier 2 contractors. UK experience is essential.
* Proven full-lifecycle project experience, demonstrating the ability to manage all stages of project delivery.
* Proficient in Primavera P6, with experience in ESTA highly desirable.
* Familiarity with commonly used forms of construction contracts, including JCT/ NEC 3.
* Knowledge of performance measurement techniques such as Critical Path Analysis and Earned Value Analysis.
* Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively with clients and diverse stakeholders.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to develop and monitor detailed project schedules.
* Leadership qualities to inspire and motivate teams to achieve high performance.
