Your role:
In this new role you will have responsibility for the development and implementation of specialist local public health programmes to improve health and wellbeing and address health inequalities. Applying your public health knowledge and skills you will take responsibility for creating and implementing robust and effective plans, working with a range of partners and stakeholders.
You will thrive on innovation and delivering outcomes that make a tangible difference to people’s lives and enjoy bringing forward opportunities for change, promoting innovative thinking, evidence-based decision making and best practice.
Thorough understanding of asset-based working and how this approach can be applied throughout the design and delivery of programmes and projects you will actively contribute to strategic priorities and the ambition of the Health and Wellbeing Board and Healthier Wigan Partnership.

The 4 substantive roles will have responsibility across a range of public health priorities including (but not limited) drugs and alcohol, mental wellbeing, health inclusion, children and young people, physical activity, healthy weight and wider determinants of health.
The fixed term post will be responsible for tobacco due to the expansion local smokefree programmes.
About you:
You will have knowledge of public health acquired through relevant degree or equivalent plus additional training and experience. You will be a registered UK Public Health Register Practitioner or working towards registration. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge and understanding of asset-based approaches, evidence based public health practice and relevant statutory requirements, a proven commitment to addressing health inequalities, and a sound understanding of current health policy and systems.
We are seeking individuals with the ability to support the delivery of transformational activity and the enabling work programmes and lead on, and participate in, multi-agency project teams and groups so that departmental objectives are achieved.
