Mould Fitter/ Finisher
Role Summary:
As a Mould Finisher/Fitter, you will be responsible for machining moulds using various machines within the Toolroom workshop. This involves constructing, maintaining, and repairing Plastic Injection Mould Tools. The role encompasses a range of duties to ensure the quality and precision of the machined parts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Set up and operate CNC machines, specifically Hurco equipment, and Rhino CAD software to produce mould bolster plates.
* Utilize a variety of machines and processes, including radial drilling, turning, grinding, fitting, polishing, lifting, and tool building.
* Conduct radial drilling of plates, ensuring conformity with drawing specifications and mould standards.
* Operate manual milling, drilling, sawing, lathe turning, and grinding machinery.
* Interpret program setups, mould specifications, and drawings for the manufacture of mould tooling.
* Collaborate with Toolmakers to machine and finish injection tooling bolster plates.
* Conduct quality checks on machined parts to ensure compliance with specifications.
* Perform routine mechanical maintenance and cleaning on machinery, consulting with the Workshop Supervisor as needed.
* Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of machines and workshop area.
* Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear and following health and safety regulations.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Experience working in an engineering machine shop environment, with proficiency in different machining processes.
* Ability to read measuring tools, micrometers, and calipers to ensure precision.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision and accuracy.
General:
* Work closely with the Workshop Supervisor for daily work planning and prioritization.
* During periods of low activity, may be assigned general production work in the workshop.
* Normal working hours are 40 hours per week, with overtime required during busy periods.
* Minimum 5 hours of overtime per week, potentially including 4 hours on Saturday mornings (7 AM - 11 AM) as needed.
