HR Manager
We are seeking to appoint an HR Manager to manage all aspects of HR within a college. The person appointed will work with the school's external HR suppliers to provide high-quality HR support to the Principal. They will take responsibility for the HR function of the college, reporting to the Governing Body. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in HR, who is looking to develop their career in a school environment. We require someone who can work effectively and efficiently under direction and pressure. Accuracy and attention to detail are crucial in this role, as is the ability to work on own initiative, produce work of the highest standard, and meet deadlines. The hours are 37 per week, Monday to Friday, and will be office-based.

Key Responsibilities:
To support the Principal with managing all aspects of HR.
Human Resources Management:
1. Act as the main liaison between the school and the school's HR service providers.
2. Work with external HR suppliers to provide high-quality advice/information for the Principal and Governing Body, on the assessment of salaries, expenses, sickness and maternity procedures, redundancy, and other HR matters.
3. Ensure that all HR-related policies, including recruitment, appraisal, disciplinary, and grievance policies, are administered in accordance with employment law.
4. Produce quarterly reports for the Governing Body, including staff absence, CPD analysis, staff leaving, and new appointments.
5. Prepare contracts and other documentation related to the employment of members of staff.
6. Assist with the coordination and planning of interviews.
7. Set up all new members of staff on relevant systems such as SIMs and Strictly.
8. Process all contract changes.
9. Work with line managers to support and manage absence, including return-to-work discussions.
10. Advise and support with requests for time off, in accordance with the college's Annual Leave Policy.
11. Prepare and submit workforce data.
12. Advise on and manage Occupational Health Referrals.
13. Maintain confidential staff records.
14. Oversee the Single Central Record, DBS, medical clearance, and induction for new staff, and issue contracts of employment.
15. Support with staff exit interviews.
16. Work with the senior team regarding the staff Performance Management process.
17. Support with New Staff induction processes.
18. Produce CPD analysis reports, linking CPD to the School Improvement Plan.
Continuing Professional Development Personal:
19. In conjunction with the Principal, take responsibility for personal professional development, keeping up to date with research and developments related to efficiency, which may lead to improvements in the day-to-day running of the school.
20. Undertake any necessary professional development as identified in the School Improvement Plan, taking full advantage of any relevant training and development available.
21. Maintain a professional portfolio of evidence to support the Performance Management process, evaluating and improving own practice.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge:
22. Experience of working in a similar role.
23. Experience of working in an educational setting.
24. Experience of implementing change in a fast-moving environment.
25. Knowledge of employment legislation.
26. Excellent knowledge of HR processes and statutory compliance requirements.
27. Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
28. Good knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Word and Excel.
29. Knowledge of school MIS systems such as SIMS.
30. High level of written and oral communication and excellent attention to detail.
31. Understanding of data protection and confidentiality.
32. Experience of line managing staff, including performance management.
Experience:
33. Minimum of Level 5 CIPD Certificate or similar HR Qualifications such as HNC/HND in Human Resources Management or degree-level qualifications.
34. At least 3 years working in this sector.
35. Over 5 years working in this sector.
