2-year Fixed-Term long-term contract
Salary: £85k plus International Supplement (total salary up to £108k if traveling alone) - Relocation Allowance
Salary, International Supplement and Pension Contributions are taxable in St Helena: the current rates are: a £7,000 personal allowance per annum, thereafter 26% on the first £18,000 and 31% on the remainder.

Your role will include taking a lead on screening services on the island; this includes breast cancer, cervical cancer, and ante- and post-natal screening. With no medical paediatric service on St Helena, you will provide clinical support to the child and school nursing team, as well as to the midwives, auditing the effectiveness of O&G services and designing service plans. You must also take on training of other healthcare staff, clinical governance work, and clinical outcome data collation and reporting. You will participate in health promotion and preventative care programmes including brief interventions and other lifestyle management support for patients. You will need to be very flexible in regard to your hours.
Working with other doctors, the nursing team, and allied health professionals on the island, you will lead the obstetrics and gynaecological service, to include both in- and out-patient services, imaging, and surgical procedures. Specialist duties will include obstetric support to midwives; emergency and elective Caesarean Sections; management of hypertension, diabetes, and other chronic conditions during pregnancy; and specialist gynaecological services including colposcopies, LLETZ, endometrial ablations, and hysterectomies. You will also develop a wider range of women’s health services, including well woman and menopause clinics.
A specific focus will be on supporting the development and delivery of a robust and effective clinical health service.
Essential Criteria
* Full GMC registration or equivalent and good standing with that body.
* MRCOG or equivalent qualification or experience.
* Must have accreditation as a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the country of practice (e.g., Specialist Registration in the UK).
* You will have worked at Consultant level in the UK.
* Proficiency in obstetric/gynaecological ultrasonography.
