Job Title: Legal Assistant Reports to: Senior Legal Counsel Function: Legal Location: Knowsley Job Purpose: To provide wide-ranging support to the group’s legal department Role and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will become an integral member of the in-house legal team providing general assistance across a range of matters. Under the support and direction of the Senior Legal Counsel and the Legal Counsel the Legal Assistant will also work with and provide support to the sales team, the commercial team and the projects team. Specific duties include those listed below: Reviewing and drafting non-disclosure agreements. Managing live non-disclosure agreements - tracking their expiry and arranging for compliance with any relevant obligations e.g. return of documentation. Reviewing and reporting internally on the terms of proposed customer contracts by reference to an agreed risk matrix. Arranging for execution of customer contracts, ensuring that all processes with regard to contract formation, approval levels and signature are adhered to. Assisting with the agreement of sub-contract terms, by reference to an agreed risk matrix. Compiling sub-contracts and arranging for their execution. Undertaking directed legal research. Attending contract negotiation meetings and taking detailed notes to accurately record the discussion and agreements reached. Maintaining an accurate contracts register. Tracking and co-ordinating documentation deliverables to ensure relevant contractual obligations are discharged e.g. collateral warranties, manufacturer warranties and other ancillary documents required to be delivered during the term of a project. Knowledge and Skills Essential: Commercial experience preferably with a contracting organisation. Excellent knowledge of standard IT packages including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and DocuSign Desirable Legal or business based degree. Legal Practice Course qualification or similar CILEX or similar.
