Position: Health Advocate

About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate Health Advocate to join our team. This role focuses on promoting and delivering a training package to general practice teams, building relationships with local practices, and providing specialist support to patients affected by domestic abuse.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Promote and deliver in-house training on domestic abuse to general practice teams.
2. Provide ongoing advice and support to practice teams.
3. Encourage health professionals to inquire about patient's abuse experiences and ensure proper response, recording, safety checks, and referrals.
4. Offer specialist advocacy and support to patients referred from participating practices and make onward referrals where needed.
5. Collect and collate performance and monitoring data for reporting and programme development.
6. Collaborate with the Southampton IDVA service to deliver Pippa, providing advice and guidance to victims, professionals, and family members.
7. Participate in the on-call out-of-hours rota.
8. Arrange and deliver training sessions with participating practices, preparing necessary training materials.
9. Maintain accurate and confidential records of practice-based work and service user interactions.
10. Provide direct support and advocacy to those experiencing domestic abuse through phone and in-person meetings.
11. Work with victims to increase safety and inform them of their rights and options.
12. Perform administrative and financial tasks, maintaining full records and receipts.
On-Call Duties:
13. Handle emergencies and provide support outside service hours.
14. Provide emergency safety advice and support to refuge residents.
15. Admit families into refuge accommodation and process referrals.
16. Support clients in accessing refuge accommodation elsewhere.
Qualifications and Skills:
17. Experience in health advocacy, domestic abuse prevention, or related fields.
18. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
19. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
20. Commitment to professional development.
21. Confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive information.
22. Flexibility for on-call duties.
23. Access to a car and a valid driver's license.
