This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly organised, and self-motivated individual to work within our specialist Environmental Protection Team.
The role would primarily be undertaking land contamination work, however there is an expectation that the successful candidate may assist with the other disciplines within the team. We expect applicants to have some previous experience in land contamination work, either from a regulatory or non-regulatory background.
The team is responsible for air quality, land contamination, private water supplies and environmental permitting, with office locations in Crewe and Macclesfield. We promote flexible and hybrid working arrangements to help you live a balanced lifestyle that works for you.
The varied role will involve undertaking statutory duties under Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, responding to land contamination service requests, reviewing planning consultations, the management of the geographical information system and dealing with other work received by the team, including site visits (these may be solo or in conjunction with other officers within the Authority or other Government Agencies). As part of the wider Regulatory Services and Health Team, Specialist Environmental Protection Officers work closely with Planning, Highways, Building Control and Public Health to help with improved service delivery. There will be personal development and training opportunities, both internal and external. The successful candidate will be expected to explain technical issues to a wide range of audiences, many of whom will not have a scientific background, therefore good communication skills are essential.
You should have a relevant environmental degree, be flexible and adaptable, be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and prioritise workloads.
