About the Opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.We are recruiting for a Field Engineer with an electrical bias, working for the client’s quality department within the Site Quality Surveillance Team, checking the electrical works are constructed in accordance with the contact and approved works information.
Key responsibilities:
1. Identifying potential quality related issues for early correction, mitigating effects of rework and associated time and cost implications.
2. Notifying the Construction Superintendent of non-conformances and submitting details of any non-conformance to assist in issuing non-conformance reports.
3. Communicating with both EDF and contract partner site teams, maintaining good communication links and ensuring surveillance outcomes are appropriately reported and communicated.
4. Supporting team instructions to take temporary measures to mitigate and keep works safe and within Quality standards.
5. Ensuring design decisions are not taken “in the field” by EDF Energy or contractors, but are considered and approved via a formal process.
6. Ensuring tasks are developed to quality in accordance with the company’s requirement for health, safety and environment.
7. Developing and maintaining an understanding of construction drawings, construction activities, Quality Control Plans and Quality Inspection Records.
8. Ensuring that Quality Inspection Records are taken and agreed before Works are covered up.
9. Reviewing Contractor performance against the authorised Quality Control Plan.
Here's What You'll Need:
10. A minimum of HND Electrical and Electronic Engineering qualification or equivalent vocational training and experience.
11. Broad knowledge and wide understanding of the building industry, materials, trades methods and legal requirements.
12. Good organisation and delegation abilities with excellent influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
13. Good attention to detail when checking works information, materials and installed works
14. Ability to produce reports which are accurate, concise and with relevance to the particular form of contract and activity being undertaken.
15. Experience of working within a large construction team
16. Experience in the installation of Electrical SSCs (Systems, Structures and Components) is desirable
17. General understanding of the roles obligations under CDM Regulations – along with an understanding of the document and drawing approvals processes is desirable.
