Here at West Street we provide respite services for adults with learning disabilities. As a Night Care Assistant you’ll play a key role providing personalised physical and emotional care to the people who stay with us, including helping with medication and providing personal care. You’ll focus on ensuring a high standard of hygiene and safety, so people are comfortable and secure at night during their stay with us. Each of the people who stay with us is unique with their own individual physical, mental, social and emotional needs. You’ll enjoy this diversity and use your person-centred approach to focus on their strengths, promoting their independence and tailoring your support to the individual. You may already have experience of enabling or providing care, but it’s not essential. For this vital Night Care Assistant role your life experience is just as important as work experience. You’ll need strong observational skills to closely monitor mental and physical health, responding quickly and appropriately to verbal and non-verbal signs. The wellbeing and safety of the people who stay with is will be at the forefront of all your decisions and supported by your excellent communication skills. You’ll be comfortable working independently, assessing and evaluating situations during the night and deciding how to respond. Most importantly, you’ll demonstrate our core values, showing patience, empathy and compassion. Basic IT skills and accurate information recording skills are also essential. For this role you’ll be required to work nights, weekends and bank holidays for which enhancements will be paid in line with the HCC salary policy.
