Job Description
The Warehouse Facilities Manager is responsible for a team overseeing the daily maintenance, and overall management of the warehouse facility. This role ensures that the warehouse environment is safe and well maintained, while also maintaining compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. The Warehouse Facilities Manager will work closely with automation, operations, and management teams to improve and maintain the facility to high level.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilities Management:
* Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the warehouse, including HVAC systems, sprinkler systems, lighting, security systems, electrical systems and building infrastructure. Ensuring a robust reporting process is in place for individuals to report issues.
* Ensure that the warehouse is well-maintained across all areas including office space.
* Manage contractors and vendors for repairs, renovations, and facility-related services.
* Maintain and review preventive maintenance programs to minimize facilities equipment downtime.
* Support other warehouse facilities across the UK where required.
* Ensure warehouse cleaning tech cleaning) is maintained to a high standard working with the team to ensure a robust technical cleaning process is in place.
* Ensure a robust CMMS system is in place, evolving and improving the system where appropriate.
Warehouse Operations:
* Optimise storage solutions to maximize space utilization and improve space availability.
* Ensure that all warehouse equipment is in safe working condition and properly maintained.
* Implement and monitor safety protocols, including fire exits, signage, and safety drills.
Team Management:
* Lead and manage the teams, including assigning and planning tasks, evaluating performance, and fostering a positive working environment.
* Create clear annual objectives in line with business objectives, ensuring regular 1-2-1’s are carried out.
* Provide training on safety procedures, equipment use, and emergency response.
Safety & Compliance:
* Ensure that all activities within the warehouse comply with relevant health and safety regulations, ensuring a robust contractor management process is in place.
* Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
* Investigate accidents or safety incidents, report findings, and implement corrective actions.
* Maintain up-to-date records of inspections, certifications, and compliance reports.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
* Develop and manage the facilities budget, including maintenance costs, repairs, and capital expenditures.
* Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs without compromising efficiency or safety.
* Support in the negotiation of contracts with vendors for supplies and services.
Continuous Improvement:
* Ensure a culture of continuous improvement is promoted within the department.
* Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to improve warehouse performance.
Qualifications
What we are looking for?
* 5+ years of experience in facilities management, preferably in a warehouse or industrial environment.
* Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, including storage systems, material handling equipment, and safety regulations.
* Familiarity with building systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing), construction, and equipment maintenance.
* Proven leadership and team management skills, with experience in supervising maintenance or facility staff.
* Excellent critical thinking skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical or operational issues.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
* Proficiency in facility management software and tools.
