We are pleased to be able to advertise a 12-month secondment opportunity within the Community Children's Physiotherapy Team starting from 1st January 2025. We are looking for a qualified physiotherapist with a minimum of six months experience in community paediatrics to join the team.
The secondment will be based in the Children's Physiotherapy Service, a small, friendly specialist team who are based at Bensham Hospital.
The post is 37 1/2 hours / week. Monday - Friday. The service does not run on Bank Holidays or weekends.
Main duties of the job
This community-based role would suit individuals with a desire to make a positive impact with children, young people and families, and will require an ability to deliver high quality, effective clinical care. The role involves working alongside team members, as well as with a multidisciplinary team including other AHPs, medical professionals, and school and nursery staff in order to optimise the care of children. You will be expected to confidently assess and treat a wide range of conditions, predominantly conditions of neurological origin. The role also involves rebound therapy, hydrotherapy sessions, treatment blocks, equipment clinics and undertaking orthotic clinics amongst other duties.
Job responsibilities
The post involves working alongside a number of specialist paediatric specialists and may include:
* Undertaking neurological assessments and giving evidence-based advice and treatment interventions to support children with physical disabilities.
* Experience in delivering a range of land and water based interventions.
* Participating in the CPIPS assessments for children with Cerebral Palsy.
* Contributing to Educational Health Care Plans and the SEND process.
* Supervising and training band 5 staff, band 3 staff and students.
* Supporting service development through transformation and MDT working.
* Attending CIN and child protection reviews where appropriate.
