What it's like to work here
This role will help us understand the communities close to our places and provide practical help in welcoming them in. Working in partnership with a diverse range of communities and specialists to create a network of advice and support which will help our places, especially outdoors, across Wales to create innovative and accessible experiences.
It is about celebrating the unique places and stories of Wales with as wide an audience as possible.
As this role covers the Wales, your contractual place of work will be the nearest National Trust consultancy office to your home. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.
Working at properties across Wales to provide practical advice and support to operational teams and helping them to make their places more accessible and connected to local communities. Reporting to a Consultancy Manager, you’ll be a member of the Trust's regional consultancy in Wales. You’ll join a network of project managers, curators and other specialists who work closely with property teams to share skills and experience across departments and boundaries, offering our properties outstanding advice and support.
What you'll be doing Over the next two years you’ll lead the programme to develop activities enabling diversification of our audiences, encouraging engagement with under-represented communities to help us deliver our Everyone Welcome objectives. Working in partnership with operational teams to develop and deliver plans to provide continuous improvement in access. Using indoor and outdoor spaces to celebrate Welsh stories and culture to a more diverse audience.
You’ll be supported in-house by curators, marketing and communications, and operational teams but will drive external consultation and engagement to understand the needs of different audiences. Experienced in community engagement, you will be able to provide expert advice and support to teams on this. You’ll be both creative and practical, coordinating the access improvement programme, and be able to translate audience data into innovative and engaging activities. Your methodical approaches to evaluation, testing and learning will result in new ways of engaging with access partners, communities, and other stakeholders. To achieve this, you’ll identify and liaise with appropriate partners to provide expert advice, on access, community development and Welsh culture.
You’ll need to establish and maintain an effective reporting system to understand and share audience data as well as to keep track of access improvements, using our project management tools and framework. You'll be part of the Everyone Welcome and access steering groups, and contribute to the development of these plans, ensuring they deliver good value.
