We are currently working in partnership with a reputable Housing Association based in London, who are recruiting for a Safeguarding Officer on a temporary 3-month contract .
The position is due to start immediately, working 35 hours per week with flexible working across the office, patch and from home. The role is offering a negotiable hourly rate, dependent on experience.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing safeguarding cases in a housing or local authority. Candidates will drive and have access to their own vehicle with a basic DBS dated in the last 3 months.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
1. Assessing incoming referrals, directing clients to additional services, and offering support
2. Understanding the legal framework concerning the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
3. Providing direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people
4. Safeguard cases by referring to Social Care and MARAC where appropriate, monitoring duty cases sent to program managers for allocation
5. Collaborating within the team to conduct thorough assessments of needs and risks for women experiencing domestic abuse
6. Providing short-term risk management, safety planning, and support, and identify appropriate services for their needs
7. Ensuring that agreed case recording, monitoring systems are kept up to date and secure, writing internal and external reports where required, including for safeguarding conferences, team meetings, managers, and others
8. Participating in multi-agency working and focus groups as requested and follow up on agreed-upon actions arising from these collaborations
Experience required:
9. Experience managing safeguarding cases in a housing or local authority environment
10. Experience of supporting and advocating on behalf of Domestic Abuse Survivors
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
11. Up to date knowledge of safeguarding practices, procedures and legislation
12. Able to complete risk and needs assessments, safety and support plans for complex need clients
13. Customer focused approach and able to build strong trust based relationships
