The role
We are looking for a Multi-skilled carpenter to join our busy fire safety team. With a focus on fire safety, your primary role will be to carry out essential repairs, maintenance, installations and remedial fire safety work across our properties, as well as advising on improvements and techniques.
Whilst we would welcome existing fire safety knowledge, we are open to all levels for this role. So, if you are a carpenter who does not yet have hands-on experience with fire safety maintenance, but you want to add this to your skill set, this could be the perfect role for you. We will provide training and a development plan, with salary increases as your skills and knowledge develop.
You'll get to collaborate closely with customers, team members, and contractors, fostering strong working relationships and helping create a sense of security for our community, knowing that the measures you have put in place will keep them safe in the event of a fire.
Dependant on experience, day-to-day you might:
1. Work to approved installation guides and techniques, undertaking fire door/door set installations and undertaking remedial works to existing doors.
2. Perform on-site self-assessments of work completed daily to deliver a high-end product.
3. Deliver technical support.
4. Work with, develop and monitor apprentices within the team, providing feedback when requested.
5. Follow agreed targets and objectives with regards to the role.
6. Develop and maintain good levels of communication with all team members, operatives, internal and external staff.
7. Ensure strict compliance with company and legislative requirements.
8. Be willing to take part in out-of-hours rota.
What we need
For this role we are looking for some of the following skills and experience:
1. NVQ level 2 qualification or equivalent in carpentry and joinery.
2. Experience in firestopping and compartmentalisation.
3. Fire door inspection scheme (FDIS) qualification is desirable.
4. Knowledge of this role's industry best practice to an intermediate/advanced level and experienced in how to use this knowledge to ensure high standards and safe practices.
5. Knowledge of Health & Safety and safe practices.
6. Experience working in occupied homes.
7. Hold a full and valid driving licence.
