Lead Game Designer – Exciting New Venture
Are you a passionate gamer with a knack for diverse game genres and a talent for storytelling? We’re in search of a Lead Game Designer to join our client. In this role, you’ll take on project leadership responsibilities, tackling production and creative challenges. You’ll closely collaborate with the Creative/Game Director, build and manage design teams, and work with partners. Your core areas of focus will include team management, creativity, communication, problem-solving, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Stay updated on player trends and integrate them when relevant.
2. Plan, oversee, and guide the work of Game Designers in your team.
3. Ensure the team creates innovative gameplay aligned with the game’s vision.
4. Develop characters, rules, settings, and stories for new games.
5. Independently manage the creative ideation process, from concept to rapid prototyping.
6. Define Game Design Documents (GDD) for various game systems and maintain detailed documentation.
7. Review game features to ensure they align with the GDD and provide an enjoyable experience.
8. Conduct playtesting of game updates, offering feedback and ensuring quality control.
9. Continuously iterate based on user feedback.
10. Collaborate closely with artists, developers, and team members.
11. Report to the Design Director and facilitate production planning.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Expertise in Mobile and Free-to-Play (F2P) gaming with multiple shipped titles.
2. Minimum 6 years of game design experience.
3. A deep understanding of the gaming industry, market trends, and target audiences.
4. Proficiency in driving game design using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
5. Experience in prototyping and shipping games with Unity or Unreal engines.
6. Strong knowledge of Game Design principles.
7. Exceptional communication skills for clear and concise documentation and feedback.
8. Attention to detail, both from technical and artistic perspectives.
9. Familiarity with scripting languages.
10. Proactive problem-solving abilities.
11. Collaborative leadership style.
12. Passion for gaming and keen attention to detail.
13. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in game design is preferred.
