Working as part of a small HR team at Hartlepool, the HR Business Partner will work in partnership with line managers and key stakeholders consulting with the Corporate Functions, Training & Development, as well as the Resourcing Centres of Excellence, Employee Services and HR Specialists.
You will be responsible for providing line managers on site with the support and guidance needed to ensure that individual and team performance is effectively managed. Overall, the role is key to implementing the people plan which supports our ambition to continually improve the performance of Hartlepool Power Station through our skilled people.

The role is based on-site at Hartlepool Power Station full time, however part time applications (minimum. 28hrs) and discussions regarding working hours and patterns would be welcomed.
What you will be doing
You’ll be collaborating with stakeholders across the station as well as central support functions such as employee services and recruitment to provide support and guidance alongside ensuring team performance is effectively managed.
You will be executing reward, development, and organisational design plans with your teams, ensuring they are relevant for the business priorities and that key stakeholders are kept up to date throughout. All of these will impact our diversity and inclusion plans which you’ll need to consider through everyday guidance as well as future planning.
Working with the Recruitment team, you will be maintaining and developing the requirements that Hartlepool Power Station will need as we look forward into our lifetime operations plans, identifying and delivering the resourcing process as required, alongside talent and succession mapping.
Who you are
You should be a member of CIPD with HNC as a minimum qualification or CIPD equivalent (Level 5). We would want proven experience of working in a progressive HR, people management and unionised environment. You will be commercially minded and pragmatic in your application of HR best practice and able to deliver high quality HR generalist support, including extensive knowledge of appropriate employment law and HR best practices.
You will need to demonstrate knowledge and understanding in the areas of change and strategic consulting, performance management, reward management, people development, talent management resourcing and ER/engagement. The ability to coach line managers and influence as appropriate to ensure successful outcomes is important, as is analysing and presenting data in a creative way. You should have the credibility to influence and successfully challenge line managers. You should have an ability to work and connect with a wide range of stakeholders and communicate effectively.
