The role
You’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Type 31 Project will deliver 5 general purpose, global, adaptable, and exportable frigates to the Royal Navy designed to undertake a range of operational tasks from maritime security, humanitarian aid and disaster relief and defence engagement to operation in a high threat environment.
You will work in a cutting-edge facility, with state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, automation and scope for further technological deployment. Day-to-day, you’ll work with the Ship Build Integration Director, and you will help shape how ship building is done now and in the future.
In this role, we are looking for a dynamic leader with a hands on approach willing to enhance, optimise and improve the operational performance & culture within this ever-changing, fast paced shipbuilding industry.
You will be accountable for the people, plant and processes involved in the completion of work involved in this first in class programme.
Day to day you will also:
•Take accountability to manage and set high standards in Health & Safety and implement Quality initiatives to create cost, time & defect reductions.
•Demonstrate ability to engage with the Team at all levels. This should include some level of management training.
•Set objectives and hold people to account against objectives.
•Utilise your Analytical skills with the purpose of making and communicating a decision, including coordinating the workforce in implementing ideas & securing quick wins in a highly specialised and complex manufacturing environment.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Production Manager:
•Forward thinking leader, who has a proven track record of driving change, and delivering in a technical environment.
•Knowledge of a Production Manufacturing environment for the build of structures from technical designs.
•Production Management – Ability to schedule and lead planning meetings for production activities.
•Project Management – Understanding of schedules, budgets and reporting of progress. Understanding what activities need to happen to ensure successful delivery.
•Forward thinking management experience of multidisciplinary teams.
