A specialist secondary SEMH school in Whitehaven, West Cumbria are seeking a qualified secondary teacher to teach across Art, Humanities and Personal Development subject areas.
The school provides a specialist learning environment for pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties ( SEMH ), and class sizes are small - with around 5-6 pupils in each class.
The role will involve teaching Art, Humanities and Personal Development subject areas, and therefore the school are seeking someone who is flexible and able to adapt their approach to different subject areas, with planning support in place for each subject. The school are happy to consider a specialist within either Art or Humanities
The school are ideally looking for a teacher with experience of supporting pupils in an SEN or PRU setting, and are able to support pupils who demonstrate challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate resilience and confidence when developing relationships with SEMH pupils.
The school require an Art, Humanities and Personal Development Teacher teacher to start as soon as possible, on an ongoing, full-time basis, with potential of permanent roles becoming available in 2025. Part-time hours may be considered for the right candidate.
The role will involve working school hours from 8.30 - 3.30pm, with rates of pay available from £160+ upwards per day, dependant upon experience. Tradewind proudly pay directly via PAYE through our own amazing in-house payroll team, without the need to sign up with a third party umbrella company!!

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
Demonstrable experience and passion for teaching Art or Humanities
Ability to engage and inspire students in a PRU setting
Are able to demonstrate resilience, patience and a positive approach to behaviour management
Strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual student needs
Have an enhanced DBS certificate (or be happy to apply for a new one), Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks.
Provide a CV with at least 10 years employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained.
Have the legal right to work in the UK.
