An opportunity has arisen for an Minor Illness practice Nurse to join our friendly team. We are a busy Practice in Hertfordshire, we comprise of 4 partners; have a friendly and supportive team of reception and admin staff, and a skilled nursing team who support the partners in caring for a population of 1300 + patients. We are a SystmOne practice.

We are looking for a permanent part time Practice Nurse who is enthusiastic and committed to providing good quality health care and who would like to join our friendly practice team.
The Practice Nurse will see patients, they will treat, and review, referring as necessary. They will also undertake a role in managing long term conditions and work within a multi-disciplinary team to prevent unplanned hospital admissions.
It is envisaged that the post-holder will expand their role in accordance with practice requirements and their own scope of practice.
The salary we offer will be dependent upon experience.

Job responsibilities
To provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients in line with current evidence based guidelines as well as providing nursing assistance to the Doctors and other members of the Primary Healthcare Team.

1.Clinical
1. Wound care / ulcer care / Doppler
2. Removal of Sutures / clips
3. Urinalysis
4. ECGs
5. Chronic disease Management such as Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, Hypertension,
6. Spirometry
7. Minor illness
8. Ear syringing
9. Cervical cytology smear tests
10. Health Screening
11. Dietary Advice
12. General health advice
13. Routine immunisations / Child Immunisations
14. Routine Injections
15. Contraception
16. Minor injuries
17. Travel Clinic
18. Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
19. Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
20. Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
21. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to other nurses or GPs as appropriate
22. Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
23. Participate in maintaining Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
24. Reconciliation of controlled drugs in line with current DOH guidelines
25. Undertake housekeeping duties including, general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms keeping a clear work surface culture
26. Ordering of stock to maintain safe stock levels & cash control
27. Ordering of vaccinations to maintain safe stock levels & cash control
28. Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
29. At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate and contemporaneous records
30. A duty to advise Practice manager and Partners of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
31. Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required
32. Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
33. Flexibility of working to ensure sufficient cover is provided for nurse holidays/sickness
34. Maintain effective liaison with other agencies & staff concerned with patient care
35. Co-operate & participate as required in any research projects within the practice
