GSL Education are excited to welcome a dedicated Academic Support Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Christchurch, starting January 2025 (with immediate start options available), offering full-time hours and the flexibility of part-time arrangements for those with a passion for supporting students, especially those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
About the role:
As an Academic Support Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing students' learning experiences, particularly for those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), while also enjoying the flexibility of part-time options.
Responsibilities of the Academic Support Assistant:
* Providing tailored academic support to students, particularly those with SEN, to enhance their learning experience.
* Collaborating closely with classroom teachers to deliver engaging and effective educational activities.
* Assist in the preparation and organisation of learning materials and resources for classroom instruction.
* Monitoring student progress and providing constructive feedback to support their growth.
* Encouraging positive social interactions and fostering a supportive classroom environment.
* Supervising students during breaks and assisting with their personal and academic needs as required.
Requirements of the Academic Support Assistant:
* Experience working in a primary school setting; experience with SEN is highly valued.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to connect with students and colleagues effectively.
* A patient and empathetic approach, committed to meeting the diverse needs of all learners.
* Capability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when necessary.
* A solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
