Our client HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is an agency of the Ministry of Justice. HMCTS provides administrative support for the legal system across England and Wales, ensuring justice works for everyone.

Our public sector client is looking for a temporary employee to join their team as a court usher. This is initially a temporary role until March 2025. There may be chance of an extension, but this will be down to business need. This is a full-time role, Monday - Friday, 37 hours per week. Usual working hours will be 8-4/9-5, dependent on business needs. The pay rate for this role is £11.44ph - paid on a weekly basis.
This role is fully office based due to the nature of the role. The location of the office is WV1 3LQ.
This role requires a candidate with fantastic customer service experience, as you will be dealing with people from all walks of life. The role of an usher is to ensure there is a smooth running of the courts. Your day to day duties will include but won't be restricted to:
- Prepare courts for sitting fill water bottles; ensure clean glasses are available, paper for Adjudicator etc. Wash and tidy away glasses at the end of the court sitting
- Liaise with Adjudicator and Court Section
- Obtain names of all parties and complete front sheets with court results
- Swear in witnesses as appropriate
- Photocopy any documents required by the court
- Ensure the smooth running of the courts
- Sorting and distributing mail
- Answering telephone calls and relaying messages
The successful canddate will provide routine administrative support tasks according to well-established procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service experience.
