Are you looking for a role working with children with social, emotional and mental health needs, where you can have a positive impact on their life? Are you confident, and open to new challenges? This role could be for you!
About the school:
Based in Chesterfield, this pupil referral unit caters to primary aged students with severe social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Most students attending the school have behavioural difficulties and associated disorders which have caused problems in mainstream schools and led to exclusions. Each member of staff is fully committed to improving the outcomes of the students and supporting them back into mainstream education.
About the Role:
Working as a behavioural support assistant you will provide support for students with SEMH needs who may find it difficult or be reluctant to engage in education. This will include building rapport with students and creating positive relationships which influence them to regulate their behaviour. You will work 8:30 - 4:30pm Monday - Friday. You may be required to drive between sites in Sheffield, so being a driver with a car is essential.
What we need from you:
If you have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant/support worker or are passionate about improving the outcomes for young people, this is the role for you. As an individual you will be outgoing and confident in your abilities to deal with behavioural difficulties and re-engaging students in education.
It is desired (although not essential) that applicants have a qualification in Team Teach and experience in dealing with young people who have SEMH needs. It is also required that applicants are able to drive as you may be required to conduct safe and well visits to pupils homes on occasion
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
