An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated registered nurse with an interest in palliative care. We are looking to recruit a full time 37.5 hours a week band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join Swansea Bay University Health Board Specialist Palliative Care Team
The Specialist Palliative Care team work across Hospital and Community sites and this role will be expected to rotate across the settings.
It is essential that the applicant will have significant experience working at band 5 or above delivering palliative and end of life care to patients. The post holder will be supported to develop your existing skills and knowledge around holistic clinical assessment and management of palliative patients.
The post holder will be supported to develop interpersonal and communication skills as the role includes difficult conversations with patients and those important to them. Also, developing professional relationships with services across secondary and primary care in Swansea Bay University Health Board.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
To work as a part of the Multi professional team providing specialist palliative care throughout the Swansea Bay University Health Board, primarily to the hospital and community service. To work effectively as an autonomous practitioner promoting and maintaining quality of life for patients with cancer or other life threatening illnesses requiring specialist palliative care and into bereavement for relatives and carers.
To provide specialist clinical assessment of complex symptom and psychological problems. To provide support, advice and leadership to health care professionals in line with national and local guidelines ensuring a cohesive, holistic and evidence based approach to the management of palliative patients.
The Post holder will be required to work as part of the 7 day rota which includes bank holidays and weekends.
