Job Purpose
We are looking to recruit a full-time float Ward Clerk (37.5 Hours p/w – Monday to Friday – 08:00 – 16:00TBC). The role of the Float Ward Clerk is vital to the BRHC as you will play an important role in ensuring high standards of administrative governance on a variety of our inpatient wards. You will be required to be the first point of contact on the ward(s) so a friendly and welcoming demeanour and calmness under pressure are essential for this role.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include acting as the patient’s first point of contact on the ward(s), greeting and signposting patients and relatives, processing patients using CareFlow, liaising with colleagues to facilitate a smooth and timely stay with the hospital, and sending out patient information. The maintenance of paper and electronic records is also a key element of this role. You will be responsible for setting high standards of patient care by enacting the Trust’s core values at all times.

Person Specification
* Capable of working with minimal supervision
* Highly organised
* Empathetic attitude to staff and patients
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience using Microsoft Office
* Previous experience of customer-facing work in a healthcare or public setting
* Previous NHS experience
* Experience using hospital-based IT systems
* Experience of using CareFlow
Qualifications
* Two GCSEs or equivalent (Preferably English and Maths)
Skills & Abilities
* Flexible approach to duties
* Ability to work within a team
* Ability to work independently
* Able to communicate clearly and act quickly in emergency
