Transport Operator, required for our client's brand new company in Dover.

Job Purpose:
As a Transport Operator, you would be responsible for resourcing and implementing the delivery plan in conjunction with the wider team, with a strong emphasis on Service. A Transport Operator has several objectives:
1. Ensuring all routes run on time and hit high delivery performance targets.
2. Ensuring routes are efficient while always operating within the required legal and company guidelines.
3. Utilising company and/or third-party resources and effectively managing vehicle utilisation.
4. Ensuring drivers are given clear and precise instructions.
5. Meeting all service levels cost-effectively within the constraints of drivers' hours and Health & Safety regulations.
Main Responsibilities:
The Successful Candidate will be required to undertake the following tasks:
1. Communicating all elements of the job effectively to drivers and sub-contractors.
2. Analysing the full transport plan and identifying shortcomings in delivery on time and service levels.
3. Ensuring all drivers work within a safe environment and follow driver hours' regulations.
4. Liaising with the planning team to optimise fleet/driver utilisation and resolving problems affecting delivery on time.
5. Collaborating with other operators and team leaders to discuss efficiencies and agreed operational practices.
6. Assisting in the control of equipment to ensure customer requirements are met and recorded.
7. Managing the balance between own fleet and sub-contract requirements, identifying areas for improvement.
8. Working alongside the fleet to ensure timely return of vehicles for servicing and maintenance.
9. Working with Compliance to ensure trucks are legal.
10. Undertaking additional tasks/duties as required by Management.
11. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
12. Ensuring all emails and orders are acknowledged and actioned.
13. Keeping all TMS systems up to date and accurate.
14. Assisting the planner in acquiring reloads when needed.
15. Dealing with all issues in the current day to ensure all loads remain achievable, cost-effective, and legal.
16. Assisting the planner with uploading jobs and allocating when required.
Expectations:
While the main responsibilities cover the majority of the Operator role, the company requires operators to ensure that when making decisions and changes, they have the company's best interests at heart. Communication with all customers, contractors, and suppliers is to be professional and courteous at all times, remembering that you are representing our client's new business.

4 days on, 4 days off
8:00 - 20:00
Salary:
£35,000 - £38,000 depending on experience
